Using an awl or small screwdriver push the button in all the way and at the same time pull off the handle. Tighten up your front door handle sometimes simple wear and tear can make your door handle feel loose. Inspect the insides of each handle making sure both move when the handle is lowered. All you need to do is use a screwdriver to tighten any loose connections.

Consider installing replacement parts if the handles do not turn the rod. Remove the knob start by placing an object like a towel between the door and the door frame to keep it open. Make sure the square metal rod running through the mechanism turns the latch mechanism. Remove the strike. Remove the inside doorknob by locating the button like our model metal tab or wire clip on the side of the knob that acts as a release. Remove the door rose by inserting a small screwdriver into the small notch in the rose and twisting the tool to pop it off.

Remove the screws on the inside door handle and pull both handles off the door at the same time.
