Both auto body filler such as bondo and a hardener catalyst should be available at a large hardware store. Broken storm door handles are easy to replace if you buy the same kind but upgrading to a top quality brass handle as we ve done takes a little extra work. This type is found commonly on lever style door handles. To depress the detent use the end of a metal paper clip or the point of an awl inserting it into the hole and pressing the detent down while twisting and removing the door handle shaft off the spindle.

Door lock doesn t latch properly when a door latch doesn t click into position it usually means the latch and the strike plate are out of alignment. Tighten the hinge screws and then try adjusting the strike plate by loosening its screws and shifting it slightly. If screws are already exposed proceed to next step. At first glance it appeared that this handle would fit in the old holes.

Remove the old storm door handle by unscrewing the two screws that hold the two halves together. Take the handle off of the door. Repairs range from making minor latch adjustments to repositioning the door.
